A DRIFTING UP

It takes six weeks to come off antidepressants. A man tries to dance his way through it, armed only with a boombox and a sign inviting people to join him. From over 100 hours of footage shot on the streets of Bristol and London, this BAFTA-nominated film documents a journey from isolation to connection, and a montage of city life.

Dir. Jacob Lee | Dance Short | U.K. | 2022 | 9 min.

ALL OF US

Cyclical lyricism illuminates the collective experience of being “alone together” during the extended isolation of the Covid pandemic. Framed, disrupted, and propelled by improviser Corey Scott-Gilbert, and powerfully narrated by the late and beloved Gus Solomons Jr., this film features romantic partners, roommates, family members, and duets dancing "at home" amongst accumulating domestic objects. Highlighting movers across identities, the film explores coexistence within a common screen space, transforming repetition into parables of the human experience.

Dir. Charlotte Griffin | Dance Short | U.S.A. | 2023 | 7 min.

AS THE CALL, SO THE ECHO

In conflict with her inner demons, a young woman embarks on a journey of self-discovery, grappling with the unknown depths of her own identity.

This experimental documentary short merges meditations on dance from choreographer Martha Graham, with music by composer Philip Glass, and video featuring professional bull rider and modern dancer Ouncie Mitchell at the 2022 Oakley Rodeo in Oakley, Utah.

HERBARIUM

A fairy tale told with tenderness, gushing with the intense colors of flowers and élan vital, this film takes us into the world of flora. Choreographed to a suite by Edvard Grieg and presented by the artists-dancers of the Polish Dance Theatre, it explores a day in the life of a plant, from the moment it blooms, until the end, drowned in warm nostalgia.

Dir. Iwona Pasińska | Dance Short | Poland | 2021 | 13 min.

On her way home from a dance rehearsal in Los Angeles, a young woman’s spiraling thoughts begin to blur past and present as she questions her identity and place in the world.

MISFIT

Living in Bogotá demands adaptable skin—able to endure weeks of rain yet soften when the woman in the corner shop offers you a free morning coffee. This film takes us high above the Andes, depicting life in the bustling Colombian capital, through stylized movement.
