THE SUMMER OF JAWS

“You yell ‘shark,’ we've got a panic on our hands the whole summer!”

As Martha’s Vineyard marks 50 years since Jaws first sank its teeth into the box office, Circuit Arts is your go-to for every way to experience the classic this summer—on the big screen, at the Vineyard’s Drive-In at the YMCA, live on stage, and even with a full symphony orchestra bringing the score to life.

Whether it’s film or footlights, we’ll steer you right...no chum required.

SEE JAWS AROUND THE ISLAND

  • SUNDAYS at EDGARTOWN CINEMAS

    May 25–August 24

Visit the Edgartown Cinemas website (below) for showtimes and tickets. Some Sundays in June may be excepted.

  • JAWS IN CONCERT at the Winnetu

    Saturday, June 21 | 6:30 PM

Presented by the Martha’s Vineyard Chamber of Commerce and Alamo Drafthouse Cinema—with a few behind-the-scenes assists from your friends at Circuit Arts—this ticketed outdoor screening at the Winnetu, complete with a live score by the Cape Symphony Orchestra, will plunge fans back into the waters of Amity Island, where the legend (and the fin) first surfaced.

  • THE SHARK IS BROKEN at the Martha's Vineyard Performing Arts Center

    July 5–20

Okay, so this one’s technically not the film…but we know you’ll love it anyway!

Step aboard the Orca and into The Shark Is Broken. This Olivier Award-nominated new play stars Ian Shaw (War Horse, Common) as his father, Robert Shaw. It celebrates movie history and peeks at the choppy waters behind Hollywood’s first blockbuster. Short tempers. Short circuits. 95 minutes, no intermission.

Presented by the North Shore Music Theatre, in association with Circuit Arts

  • THE VINEYARD'S DRIVE-IN AT THE YMCA

    Saturday, July 19 | 8:15 PM

Winner of three Oscars (including one for John Williams’ thrilling score), the epic tale of man vs. shark was shot on the Island in 1974. See if you can spot your favorite beaches and local talent.

  • THE STRAND THEATER

    August 1 | Time TBD

See the film in downtown Oak Bluffs, at the beautifully renovated Strand Theater, just steps away from the now-defunct Island Theater where Jaws first premiered on
    June 20, 1975.

  • THE VINEYARD'S DRIVE-IN AT THE YMCA

    Saturday, August 23 | 7:45 PM

This is your last chance to catch the flick on Island before the Universal Studios rerelease over Labor Day weekend!
