Widow Clicquot follows the true story of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, the "Grande Dame of Champagne," otherwise known as Veuve Clicquot, who became Madame Clicquot at 20 through an arranged marriage with François, an unconventional winemaker. After François's untimely death, Barbe-Nicole, now a mother and widow at 27, fights to preserve her family’s vineyards and legacy. Defying societal norms and the Napoleonic Code, she advances her husband's innovative winemaking techniques.
