A first kiss, a first dance. At once exciting and terrifying, these rites of passage hold the promise of magic, romance, and initiation into adulthood. This award-winning film follows a group of teens and young adults on the autism spectrum, as they spend twelve weeks preparing for a spring formal dance at a local nightclub in Columbus, Ohio. A story about the universal human need to grow, connect, and belong, it’s entertaining, funny, and heartbreaking.
The disABILITY FESTIVAL is produced in partnership with the Island Disability Coalition, Island Autism Group, Vineyard Independence Partnership, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services, Camp Jabberwocky, the M.V.R.H.S. Navigator and Voyager programs, and Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center.
