This gripping, Oscar-nominated documentary is a tribute to the French volcanologists and lovers Katia and Maurice Krafft, who risked everything to study the destructive power of volcanic eruptions. Featuring much of their own breathtaking 16-millimeter film footage and photography from the 1970s until their untimely deaths in the early 1990s, this film is a testament to passion and dedication—to each other, and to the quest to understand Earth’s fiery heart and better protect communities precariously close to it.
