America's policy of producing cheap food at all costs has long hobbled small, independent farmers, ranchers, and chefs. Worried for their survival during the Covid-19 pandemic, trailblazing food critic, magazine editor, and memoirist Ruth Reichl reaches across political and social divides to uncover the country's broken food system and the innovators risking all to transform it. She teams up with filmmaker Laura Gabbert (City of Gold, No Impact Man) to tell an expansive story that takes stock of Reichl’s own life and abandoned ideals, while introducing us to some of the many people behind the food we eat.
